Q&A: James Buchanan Comes of Age

Visitors to President James Buchanan’s Wheatland will experience a special Living History program on Saturday August 2, 2014 between Noon and 4 PM. Guests will be guided through the life journey of James Buchanan. James was born in Cove Gap, PA on April 23, 1791, the second child and first son to James and Elizabeth Buchanan. While touring Wheatland visitors will meet James at different stages in his life; as a young boy in Mercersburg, PA, a precocious student at Dickinson College, a zealous politician and lawyer, to his mature role as the Old Public Functionary of Washington. James Buchanan will share intimate details of his private life, as well as his remarkable political career that culminated as the 15th President of the United States of America.

Living History Tours take place on the hour from 12 pm to 4 pm (the last tour starts at 3 pm.) Admission prices are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $6 for students (11-17), and children 10 and under are free.
