September 6, 2017 - December 8, 2017

Free

This traveling exhibition of 33 reproductions of Arab comics provides a look into Arab popular culture and the history of graphic illustration in the Middle East.  Arab Comics: 90 Years of Popular Visual Culture, brought to the Phillips Museum of Art in partnership with F&M’s Islamic and Middle East Studies program, features three distinct types of comic book art made by Arab artists: originals, adaptations, and contemporary works.  This exhibit and its related programming are part of the Arab Arts Festival taking place on campus over the course of the fall semester.
