Domestic Help Wanted: Living History at LancasterHistory.org

July 1, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

$8 – $15

Step back in time to 1861.  Mr. Buchanan recently retired from the U.S. Presidency and his housekeeper, Miss Hetty Parker, has informed him that running the house has become a struggle. She points out that they have a shortage of domestic help; a number of domestic servants have left for other jobs, and Miss Hetty now faces the task of interviewing applicants. Meet Mr. Buchanan’s domestic staff and experience daily life at Wheatland c. 1861 at this month’s Living History at Wheatland!

The Living History at Wheatland program, Domestic Help Wanted, takes place on Saturday, July 1, 2017 with tours on the hour starting at 12pm and the last starting at 3pm. Standard tours of Wheatland are also offered at 10am and 11am. Click here or call 717-392-4633 to purchase your tickets. Advanced tickets strongly recommended as Living History tours often sell out and walk-in space is not guaranteed. Your tickets also include admission to the exhibition galleries.
