Living History at Wheatland

Step back to the mid-1860s where you will learn more about Buchanan’s inner social circle and the health concerns that shaped his final years.  When visit you will meet “The Old Sage of Wheatland” as he proofreads his presidential memoir. His nieces and the Nevin family will also be visitors, but Buchanan’s day will be complicated by a visit from his physician.  His doctor will also check on Buchanan’s faithful housekeeper, Miss “Hetty” Parker, who is under the weather due to a recent fall.

“Not Long a Pilgrim on This Earth” will take place from 12pm to 4pm with tours available on the hour; last tour at 3pm. Standard history tours available at 10am and 11am. Please arrive at the main building, LancasterHistory.org, 230 N President Avenue, to check in and/or purchase your tickets 15 minutes before your tour begins.
