Anonymous was a Woman: Individuals and Identities, curated from the permanent collection of the Phillips Museum of Art at Franklin & Marshall College, incorporates 17 photographic works of unidentified women. This exhibit focuses on the history of picture making and women and their place in society. By titling the show Anonymous was a Woman, we are referencing Mirra Banks’ 1978 groundbreaking film by the same title, while also focusing on the ofter under-documented history of women.
