The Uninhabitable is Amze Emmons’ first solo museum exhibition, which takes its title from a section of George Perec’s Species of Spaces and presents drawings, paintings, and prints surveying eight years of investigating the construction of space and the politics of architecture. Emmons is a multi- disciplinary Philadelphia-based artist whose work evokes a sense of magical/minimal realism inspired by architectural illustration, comic books, cartoon language, information graphics, news footage, consumer packaging, and instruction manuals.
