|Recurring Event (See all)
Friday, Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday
Lancaster Science Factory

The 6th annual Cold Storage Winter Camp takes place December 26, 29, 30 & 31, 2014. Send your kids to the coolest camp in the coldest time! They’ll enjoy hands on activities, fun demonstrations, and be submerged in the chill and thrill, of science!

Each half-day session costs $25 per child. Reserve both sections on the same day for $45. Or book all 8 sessions for $160. The more you book, the more you save!!!!!! Members also receive an extra 10% off. Children that are attending both morning and afternoon camps are welcome to stay for Lunch Bunch, in which they can eat their own packed lunch, and then enjoy time on the exhibit floors before the afternoon camp begins.

Friday, December 26th
Suspenseful Art! (9:00am-12:00pm) ages 6-13
Guided by inspiration from levers and the life and works of Alexander Calder, we will create our own take-home mobiles! After achieving balance with our complex connections, campers will learn how they can participate in our upcoming county-wide, Calder-inspired mobile contest (the winning design becomes an exhibit!).

Egg in a Hurricane (1:00pm-4:00pm) ages 6-13
After learning about hurricanes, our job is simple: to create a safety container for an egg that must survive our little hurricane simulator!

Monday, December 29th
Crime Science (9:00am-12:00pm) ages 8-13
Using various scientific techniques, we will detect and identify fingerprints! Then we will use what we’ve learned to compare evidence and analyze different suspects.

PVC Pipe Projects (1:00pm-4:00pm) ages 8-13
To discover the many simple, yet clever uses of PVC pipe, we will make 3 take-home projects: a litter grabber, a one-way check valve, and a paper rocket launcher!

Tuesday, December 30th
CHEMystery (9:00am-12:00pm) ages 7-12
Make liquids, bubble, fizz and change color! Campers will conduct experiments, observe fascinating results and discover the properties of household products. They will also use their senses and analytical skills to identify our mystery liquids!

Messy! (1:00pm-4:00pm) ages 7-12
They’re chemistry experiments but they’re also works of art that you can take home! We’ll get messy as we learn about fluid movement, secretive ink, hidden rainbows, color mixing, and more.

Wednesday, December 31st
Fairy Tale Science (9:00am-12:00pm) ages 6-12
Could the fairy tales that we all know and love really happen? Could a carpet really fly by itself without a motor under the right conditions? Would Rapunzel get her hair pulled out if her prince decided to use it as a rope? This and more!

Science of Oz (1:00pm-4:00pm) ages 6-12
More literary science investigation! This time, we’re inspired by events that occurred in the Wizard of Oz books! We’ll create tornados, melting witches, and more!
