Preschool Picassos
Does your Preschooler love art? Our newest early childhood program focuses on the connection between science and the visual arts. Preschool Picassos will provide visitors with unique art experiences as we teach various children various techniques and utilize both. As children experiment and explore, they will not only explore scientific theory, but create some unique works of art along the way!
Irish Story Time in the Barn
In celebration of General Edward Hand’s Irish heritage, Rock ford will be hosting Irish Story Time in the Barn. This family-friendly event, designed for children of all ages, will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2020 beginning at 2:00 PM in the Rock Ford Barn. During this approximately one-hour long event, children and their families will enjoy an Irish-themed story time, games, a craft and a yummy treat. Slime Lab

Volunteer Tour Guide Recruitment Event at Rock Ford
Rock Ford will be hosting a Volunteer Tour Guide Recruitment Event to seek tour guides for its upcoming tour season. The event will begin with an information session in the Rock Ford Barn, followed by a brief guided tour of the mansion. Interested persons should confirm their attendance prior to March 19 by calling the Rock Ford office at 717-392-7223 or emailing office@rockfordplantation.org. Little Explorer and Me provides thematic educational activities specifically designed for preschool aged children in the museum’s Nature Gallery. Each month’s program aligns with the current exhibits and themes of the North Museum and offers new art, craft and fine motor activities.

STEM Storytime
STEM Story Time features a live story presentation from a member of the museum’s education team based around current museum exhibits and themes. This program provides preschoolers with new science and nature based concepts and vocabulary using the familiar tools of story time and pairing hands on activities to further enhance new learning opportunities.

It’s Tea Time!
n letters written home to his wife Katherine while serving in the Revolutionary War, General Edward Hand would address her as “My Dearest Kitty.” Later, as the mistress of Rock Ford, Kitty Hand hosted many elegant teas for family and friends.
