All activities are FREE with your membership or paid admission to the Lancaster Science Factory. Events are geared towards ages 8 and up, but younger children (accompanied by an adult at all times) are also welcome.

Get ready to rock and shake! Special guests Bricks 4 Kidz – Lancaster, PA are offering a unique workshop experience at The Lancaster Science Factory. Students will build their own model of an earthquake, and discuss the geological forces that bring about this powerful natural disaster. The lesson includes a discussion of tectonic plates, complete with a diagram of the surface of the earth showing the various plates. Spaces are limited, make sure to register to secure your spot in the workshop!

Vocabulary includes fault line, focus, epicenter, seismograph and Richter scale

The cost of this workshop is $8 per person. Workshop participants who would like to visit the museum will receive $1 off of their admission.

Join The Lancaster Science Factory on an outing to the Bates Auditorium of the Lancaster Public Library to play the ‘Ewww! What Happened?’ Game. Guess what happened to the Mad Scientist’s ‘lunch pail’! Was it a physical or a chemical change? In this science program, some of the experiments will be hands-on and there might even be a prize for the one with the most correct guesses! We hope you like things messy…

Please register in advance to secure your place in the game. Program limited to 20 participants. All activities are FREE. Please pay all outstanding library fines before attending event.

Celebrate ‘Lancaster County Museum Month’ at the Lancaster Science Factory! In addition to our fun ‘Corners of the County’ scavenger hunt activities, we’ll be running the ‘Strength of Paper Challenge’ on September 6th, 2014. Join us in the Science Cafe from 10am-12pm to find out how much weight paper can really hold!
