The Lancaster Science Factory is pleased to offer Robotics Workshops in our Science Cafe  Monday-Friday June 23-July 29th!

Learn about programming a Baxter Robot and explore Lego Mindstorms with guest instructor, Rich Nolt, from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.

Sessions run most Mondays-Fridays at 10:30am, 11:30am, 1pm and 2pm.

All activities are free with your paid LSF admission or membership.

Make It Yourself Workshop: Forensics with Legos and Circuits!

Description: Solve a crime by building and using electronic circuits as well as a Lego-based colorimeter that can turn light into numbers!
Led by: Dr. Kristi Kneas & The E-town Chemistry Team

Program Details and Pricing:
*Programs are for kids in grades 3 – 8.

*Workshop cost per child: FREE with your paid admission or membership.

*Regular Science Factory rates apply: Members are FREE, All Visitors are $8.50.

*Program sessions are Sundays, from 2 – 3:30 pm.

  • What: A free science festival at the Lancaster Science Factory: Free admission to all Science Factory exhibits, special science activities, demonstrations and prizes for the whole family.
  • When: March 21st, 2015 from 10am-4pm
  • Where: Lancaster Science Factory, 454 New Holland Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601.
  • Who: Everyone is invited! Children age 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Special science demonstrations and activities will be presented by Science Factory volunteers, area schools, science clubs, universities and Lancaster youth organizations.

The following organizations will be offering hands on demonstrations at the 2nd annual Science is Amazing Festival:

  • Agora Cyber Charter School – Blubber Glove/Penguin Sound ID
  • Bricks 4 Kids – Lego racers and Lego art
  • Lancaster Science Factory, Chip Brabson – Prisms and light
  • Make717 – Soldering Zone
  • Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, Water Management Technology – water treatment, engines
  • Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, TechGear 3D – 3D Printer
  • Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Machine Tool and Computer Aided Manufacturing

Please join us for a fun filled night with Bricks 4 Kidz® and the Lancaster Science Factory!  Kids will be able to be build models, play games, participate in free play using LEGO® bricks, with a few more surprises in store!  Additionally, kids will be able to explore the awesome exhibits on the floor of the Lancaster Science Factory.  Pizza and refreshments are included in the price of admission.  Space is limited so sign up today!

Students will build their own model of an earthquake, and discuss the geological forces that bring about this powerful natural disaster. The lesson includes a discussion of tectonic plates, complete with a diagram of the surface of the earth showing the various plates. Spaces are limited, make sure to register to secure your spot in the workshop!

Vocabulary includes fault line, focus, epicenter, seismograph and Richter scale

All activities are FREE with your membership or paid admission to the Lancaster Science Factory.
