Living History at Wheatland

July 4, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$10

In the summer of 1865, Mr. James Buchanan is 74 years old, healthy, and still finds the time to comment on national politics. During your visit to Wheatland on July 4, Buchanan’s younger brother, the Reverend Edward Y. Buchanan, will be visiting with his wife and daughter, Annie. You will discover Buchanan’s excitement about the proofs for his new book. Later witness both Buchanan brothers debate President Johnson’s troubles and discuss what the future holds for former Vice President Breckinridge, now displaced in Cuba.

“A Visit from Uncle Ed” will take place from 12pm to 4pm (with the last tour at 3pm). Standard history tours available at 10am and 11am.
