Celebrate Mother’s Day with moles, math and magformers at the Lancaster Science Factory! All MOMS receive free admission and a complimentary carnation.

Guided by inspiration from levers and the life and works of Alexander Calder, we will create our own mobiles! After achieving balance, families will learn how they can participate in our upcoming county-wide mobile contest.This workshop is FREE with your membership or paid admission to The Lancaster Science Factory. 3-D Printing!!

10 am – 4 pm

  • What: A free science festival at the Lancaster Science Factory: Free admission to all Science Factory exhibits, special science activities, demonstrations and prizes for the whole family.
  • When: March 21st, 2015 from 10am-4pm
  • Where: Lancaster Science Factory, 454 New Holland Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601.
  • Who: Everyone is invited! Children age 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Special science demonstrations and activities will be presented by Science Factory volunteers, area schools, science clubs, universities and Lancaster youth organizations.

The following organizations will be offering hands on demonstrations at the 2nd annual Science is Amazing Festival:

Mothers and their young ladies may enjoy a memorable afternoon in the Rock Ford Barn with a tea party featuring tea, coffee and an assortment of catered sweets and desserts.
Children may bring their favorite doll with them to this event.
This event is suitable for children ages 5-12 years.

Electromagnets (ages 8-13) – January 29

After warming up with a few basics about electricity and electromagnetism, the students will get to put together telegraphs and simple motors to see electromagnets at work first-hand!

This workshop runs 10am-12pm or 1-3pm and the cost is $20 per student.

Calling all cars!  Report for duty and be prepared for some unexpected adventures as you cruise around town with Officer Friendly.  Ride a horse in the mounted patrol and search for clues to solve a mystery. These hands on experiences will earn you a badge, a hat and your very own radio.

This class is for 3, 4, & 5 year olds. $12 for museum members, $15 for non-members. Call 717-569-KIDS to preregister.

How strong are egg shells? How are they affected by houshold chemicals? Join us on Friday, April 3rd; Saturday, April 4th; or Monday, April 6th, 2015 to find out!

This activity will run from 10am-11am or 12-1pm in our Science Cafe (seating is first come, first served).

All activities are FREE with your membership or paid admission to the Lancaster Science Factory. Events are geared towards ages 8 and up, but younger children (accompanied by an adult at all times) are also welcome.

Join us for a series of workshops where children connect fun, hands-on projects to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) Local STEM professionals provide “real world” perspective and mentoring.

  • Programs are for kids in grades 3 – 8.
  • Workshop cost per child: FREE
  • Regular Science Factory rates apply: Members are FREE, All Visitors are $8.50.
  • Program sessions are Sundays, from 2 – 3:30 pm.
  • Parents are welcome to join the workshop at no cost.
  • Reserve online or at the Science Factory in advance, space is limited.
